Flowers, Flowers, Flowers!

Its the time of year when we are doing a ton of floral consultations and helping our couples nail down their visions for the big day--we love the ideas stage, when everything seems possible, but a few months out, it is time for us to get things really nailed down! We always get asked, "what is the average for flowers?" And that's a really hard question--the truth is you can spend a fortune on flowers or eliminate them almost entirely, it really is u...

Rain Plans!

Posted on March 26, 2016 at 10:10 PM Comments comments (0)

Here on the west coast of Vancouver Island, we live in a rain forest, so it really doesn't matter what time of year you decide to get married, you NEED a rain plan! The plan doesn't have to be perfect, backup plans rarely are, but you do need to discuss what will happen to your wedding in the event of rain. Often in the summer, the showers are fleeting and just pushing the ceremony back 15 or 20 minutes can make a difference. Tents aren't the best r...

We have been so lucky this past year to have been a part of some absolutely amazing weddings! From flowers to napkin folds, we have helped with details big and small and loved every minute of it! This past December, I (Sarah) was lucky enough to be asked to help make wedding dreams come true for Dallas and Emily! I hit the ground running on December 26th, and was so happy to be a part of their magical day. So much love and so much laughter! I got to...

Bright Flowers

Well it rained yesterday, but it wasn't the disaster it could have been! With a super easy going bride and amazing flowers, the day was brightened immensley! We waited out the rain, wiped down the chairs and just as the rain stopped we started the ceremony...love how things always work out! What blew our minds, however, was the colour choice for the flowers because it was...every colour! Our amazing bride wanted to steer away from pastels and instead wanted brig...

Rain, rain, go away!

Rain! It's been said that rain on your wedding day is good luck but we all know that is said by the people who need to make good out of the mess that is pouring rain on your big day. However, one could argue that a little misting rain during a massive west coast drought on your big day is a good luck sign, and hey, a little water never killed anyone! Yesterday we celebrated CJ and Matt's wedding on the farm with an absolutely beautiful ceremony followed by a fun...

Party Party Party!!!

We love weddings.  We love the joy, the laughter, the special intimate moments........we wouldn't be in this industry if we didn't! But we also love when we get to work on projects that aren't weddings.  There is a different energy; a different set of perameters, that make planning non-nuptial celebrations a completely different ballgame!  This past weekend we had the honour of planning an incredible 50th birthday celebration for our ...

Early Spring Flowers

We have been especially blessed this year on the west coast of British Columbia with an inordinately warm late winter.  As such the helebores, white bells and early clematis are in bloom weeks before they normally are. Always a late winter special, helebores are often called winter roses and come in a variety of shades from ivory to green to pink and even Pantone's colour of the year; Marsala.  Often, my favourite bouquets are the most une...

If your trainer doesn't have a trainer...

I (Sarah) and Devon (illustrious FVE Planner) have both been "horse girls" for most of our lives.  Horses taught us many things; patience (sometimes), compassion (usually), humility (always). A truly fantastic ride can be followed the next day by one so awful you think someone has switched your horse for a wild mustang.  Such is the beauty of having a working partnership with a prey animal that has a brain the size ...
